Asrani’s manager Babu Bhai Theeba confirmed the sad news. The beloved actor died at 3 PM in Mumbai’s Arogya Nidhi Hospital after battling illness. By 8 PM that same day, his last rites were completed at Santacruz Crematorium through electric cremation.

Born January 1, 1940 in Jaipur, Asrani grew up in a middle-class Sindhi family. His father sold carpets, but young Govardhan dreamed of the spotlight. He worked as a voice artist while studying at St. Xavier’s School and Rajasthan College before joining Pune’s Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in 1964.
